Sokoto: Abdussamad Dasuki empowers 50 youths with N10m

… First of its kind in the history of Tambuwal local government

A former House of Representatives member and Commissioner of Finance Finance in Sokoto state, Abdussamad Dasuki, through his Abdussamad Dasuki Skills Acquisition Empowerment Programme in the second phase, has empowered 50 youths with different skills and N200,000 each.

The programme tagged, #WorkYourWayYourself, is aimed at making the youths to be self-reliant and help in boosting the socio-economic status of the youths.

The programme is in collaboration with the Nigerian Incentive-based Risk Management System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL).

The of the beneficiaries, drawn from the 11 wards of Tambuwal local government area, were presented with cheques while others received cash transfers into their respective bank accounts.

Speaking at the occasion, Dasuki who was represented by Tambuwal local government council chairman, Nasiru Babata urged the beneficiaries to ensure proper utilization of the grant,“while we continue to support you because it is high time you walk your way by yourself.

“Hon Abdussamad Dasuki asked me to inform you that this is the start of the programme that is in line with Governor Tambuwal’s policy of empowerment and self-reliance. We shall continue to do more. Everyone should get ready to benefit from our empowerment programmes as you continue to utilize it judiciously.

“The empowerment of the youth of all gender is forefront in the policies and programmes of governor Aminu Tambuwal for which we must continue to support in order to achieve the desired result.

“This is the beginning in our support of the state government both in youth empowerment and community development. It is my hope that you will use the skills you have acquired as well as the support you have received today towards profit making,” Dasuki said.

The Tambuwal branch manager of Nigerian Incentive-based Risk Management System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Abdurraheem Muhammad commended Dasuki’s efforts and urged other politicians to emulate him.

“We at NIRSAL say kudos to Hon. Dasuki. These are the kinds of empowerments programmes we want to be seeing from politicians,” he said.

In his thank you speech, Tambari Dahiru, an elder appreciated Dasuki’s efforts in uplifting the economic status of the youths.

According to him, the people of Tambuwal local government will continue to pray for governor Aminu Tambuwal and Abdussamad Dasuki as they continue to empower youth and women.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Aisha Tambuwal thanked Dasuki for what they described as the best grant ever received by any youth in the local government and vowed to make good use of the grant.

“We cannot waste this opportunity as we cannot afford to disappoint Hon Abdussamad Dasuki,” she said.

ASHENEWS recalls that Dasuki recently launched Abdussamad Dasuki Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programmes code-named:  “WalkYourWayYourself” by training 150 youth on skills, including carpentry, electrical and mechanical works.
