The Saudi Arabian authorities have deported 110 Nigerians for immigration-related offences, the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, revealed on Monday in Abuja.
Speaking at the maiden Joint Security Press Briefing, the DG disclosed that out of the 110 deportees, 60 were males while 50 were females. He explained that they were deported primarily for overstaying their visas and lacking proper documentation.
Issa-Onilu noted that Saudi Arabia has recently intensified efforts to deport illegal immigrants from various countries.
He urged Nigerians to avoid irregular migration and instead rely on the NOA and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for guidance on legal migration options.
“Trust the NOA and Nigeria Immigration Service for guidance on legal mobility options,” he advised.
He also stated that Nigeria is strengthening its border control systems through international partnerships and increased domestic vigilance to curb irregular migration and human trafficking.
