ASHENEWS reports that retired military officers in Plateau state have pledged to support the efforts of the military in restoring peace in the state.
Members of the Retired Army, Navy, and Air Force Officers (RANAO) Association Plateau State Chapter stated this when they paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos.
The Chairman of RANAO Plateau State Chapter, Colonel BM Gyang (rtd), said that security on the Plateau was complex hen r the need for a multifaceted approach that required galvanizing ideas of critical stakeholders and experts in security.
Gyang commended the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) for his efforts at restoring normalcy to troubled areas within the state.
While reaffirming their desire to support the ongoing military operations maximally, the retired officers urged the citizens to cooperate with security agencies.
Responding, the GOC and Commander OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar noted that the task of ensuring peace and security of the society must not be left alone to the security agencies, saying that information is critical and must be timely.
The GOC advised serving military personnel to draw from the wealth of knowledge and experiences of senior retired officers.
He further assured of the commitment of 3 Division towards supporting the objectives of the association in their drive to contribute to national security and development.
