A Sokoto-based Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Sa’ar Mata Foundation on Tuesday, distributed rice to 1,000 indigent persons across three local government areas of the state.
The foundation also distributed Join Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to 50 students, to them further their studies at various higher schools of learning in the country.
Inaugurating the distribution, the founder, Barrister Sa’adatu Muhammad said that the gesture was part of the annual activities of the foundation to ease the hardship of indigent persons in the state.
“This is part of our activity during the period of Ramadan, to support less privileged persons and give succour to the needy in the society.
“Today, we have selected over 1,000 indigent persons from Bodinga, Dange/Shuni and Tureta LGAs to benefit from the foundation’s Ramadan rice package.
“Moreover, we have also selected no fewer than 50 students from the three LGAs to get a JAMB form in order to further their education, and the foundation will continue to support their academic careers after their admission,” she said.
The foundation also distributed carpets and ablution containers to various mosques’ committees within the three LGAs.
