“The governor directed for the suspension in a letter, conveyed by the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government.

“The Commissioner was suspended for alleged involvement in mismanagement of iftar feeding programme fund in Babura Local Government Area.

“The suspension begins with immediate effect pending investigation,” it said.

Ramadan begins on Sunday 10 March 2024 and is expected to conclude on Tuesday 9 April 2024, meaning Eid al-Fitr is likely to fall on Wednesday 10 April 2024.

Ramadan is a holy month dedicated to prayer and reading the Quran. Generosity and giving to worthy causes and neighbours are encouraged.

Jigawa is one of the 36 states of Nigeria, located in the northern region of the country. Created on 27 August 1991, under the General Ibrahim Babangida administration who announced the creation of nine additional states in the country bringing the total number of states then to thirty.

Jigawa State was a part of Kano State and was located in the northeasternmost region of Kano State, and it forms part of Nigeria’s national border with the Republic of Niger. The state capital and largest city is Dutse. Jigawa state has 27 local governments.
