ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state police command says it has arrested a 53 years old shop owner over alleged sexual exploitation of minors.
The suspect, Abdullahi Imman popularly known as Abba, said to be a father of seven is alleged to have sexually abused the children aged between six and 11 in his provision shop located in Tayi Village, in Minna, the Niger state capital.
A statement issued by the Police spokesperson in Niger state, SP Wasiu Abiodun said that the suspect was arrested after a complaint was filed to the GRA divisional police station in Minna.
“During interrogation, he confessed that he usually lured the children who are between the ages of 6-11yrs, comprised of eight girls and a boy to his shop with biscuits and other sweets.
“He confessed further that he engaged in this act with the children through the use of his finger into their private parts. He said he had been into this act since March 2024.
“He confirmed that he is married and he has seven children, but he just found himself in this unfortunate act,” the police said in the statement.
The police said that the children were upon the suspect’s arrest, taken to hospital for a medical examination.
The statement added that the suspect has been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
