ASHENEWS reports that the forum of Northwest governors has resolved to pursue a common agenda to address the devastating security challenge affecting the region.
This resolve was made at the end of a strategic meeting held on Tuesday at the Government House in Katsina state.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Kano State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on behalf of the spokespersons to the Governors of Katsina, Jigawa, Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto states said that the alliance between the governors was also aimed at creating sustainable development and economic prosperity.
The statement said that the forum of governors also pledged to work together in improving the agricultural sector through strategic value chain development, access to farm inputs, and commodity markets.
“The Governors also chart a way for the economic prosperity of the region with a holistic approach to inter-state modalities leveraging on both natural, physical, and human resources of the Northwestern states.
“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his intervention in the Hydropower project to northwestern states with the sole aim of boosting their economy and creating additional jobs for the teeming population” the statement quoted the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf as saying shortly after the meeting.
This online platform reports that the meeting was attended by Kano state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Zamfara state Governor, Dauda Lawal, Kebbi state Governor Nasir Idris, Sokoto state Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, Jigawa state Governor who was represented by his deputy and Katsina state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda who was the host.
