Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, has come under social media attack after purchasing the N100 million All Progressive Party (APC) nomination and show of interest forms ahead 2023 presidential contest.
The Director (Media and Publicity) for Yahaya Bello, Presidential Campaign Council, Yemi Kolapo in a statement on Tuesday, said the governor paid the required amount for the forms, making him the first o officially seal his aspiration to the office of the president.
However, some Nigerians took to Twitter to scold him for not paying state worker’s salaries but obtain the presidential forms.
According to user @Patrick03383733: “A man that continues to pay quarter salaries owning pensioners and a never ending workers screening program to avoid paying salaries is buying a form for N100M, and we claim to fight Corruption? @Mbuhari you are the worst and most corrupt.”
@ChigozieMacdom: “It’s really sad that Kogi landlord is yet to pay salaries in the state for months, yet he is the first to pay #100M for APC’s Presidential form ticket.”
@Onyiforlife: “Yahaya Bello is deadly, he is owning workers, He waste 100M for presidential form. He can’t get ticket.”
Some Nigerians called on the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) to investigate Yahaya Bello on how he got such outrageous amount.
@aluckaino: “Go and arrest Politicians, go and arrest Buhari Familiar living beyond their means, go and arrest those stealing Nigeria money, #100M was paid by Yahaya Bello to purchase form yet you guys threw your faces away EFCC you are not working, you are only after the common man.”
@Gbagygirl: “@officialEfcc we will like to investigate the source of Yahaya Bello wealth.”
