ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government has declared that it will not embark on window dressing projects insisting that it would embark on quality projects that will stand the test of time.
The state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Honorable Binta Mamman stated this to newsmen at a press briefing to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.
According to the Commissioner, the Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago is determined to remain focused and committed to building the New Niger of his dreams and changing the state into one everyone would be proud of.
Listing the several achievements of the Governor in his first four months in office, Mamman said the state Governor has narrowed down the policy thrust of his administration to the provision of social amenities, sustainable economy, good governance and urban renewal.
“The administration is barely four months old and the government has enjoyed tremendous patronage from the people because of the rapid developmental strides and focus of the Governor to meet up with the aspirations of the citizens.”
She stated that the task of achieving a new Niger state is doable and has the potential possibility of being fulfilled.
Among the achievements of the Governor include the approval of a standing order of monthly payment of N30 million to the National Examinations Council (NECO) to offset the debt the state owning the organization, sponsoring a huge number of citizens for pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia and restoring sanity on the Suleja-Abuja highway.
Other achievements include procurement and distribution of thousands of bags of fertilizers and other farm inputs to farmers for the 2023 wet season farming at a subsidized rate, distribution of 20 operational vehicles to the security agencies, signing of contracts for road rehabilitation and construction and distribution of food items worth N3 billion across the state as palliatives.
