ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State government has debunked claims of financial mismanagement.
The state government’s reaction to the now viral statement online, which the governor made regarding the slow pace of work under the ongoing Urban-Renewal Projects was contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.
According to the statement by the Chief Press Secretary, claims suggesting regret are a misrepresentation of the position and intent of the farmer Governor.
“The now viral statement online, that Farmer Governor Bago “regrets securing a N1Trillion loan for the state’s Urban — Rural Renewal Projects instead of N500 Billion”, was contextually misunderstood.
“The Chief Press Secretary said the farmer Governor has at different fora reiterated that he has enough funds to execute all the ongoing projects in the State.
“He said, at the meeting with the contractors handling various projects in the state, the Farmer Governor expressed his apprehension over delays in projects execution but couldn’t have “regretted” (in the actual sense of the word).”
The statement maintained that the Governor has at different points reiterated that he has enough funds to execute all the ongoing projects in the State.
It assured residents that the state government is judiciously utilising the states resources and dismissed concerns about potential strains on the state’s finances.
The statement therefore urged the public to disregard the unfounded and misleading report as the governor has always prioritised transparency in financial matters by publishing financial statements of the state in national dailies.
