ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government has signed a contract agreement for the conversion of Shiroro Hotel to Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Teaching Hospital (IBBUTH).
The agreement finalized at the cost of N18.9 billion will be executed by two contractors.
Speaking during the signing of the agreement on Tuesday in Minna, the Niger state governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago said that the project has been proposed to be completed within 12 months.
Bago, while charging the contractors against variation from the contract agreement said that the state government has already made provision for the funding for the project, hence its commitment to making sure that all projects earmarked are completed within the scheduled timeframe.
He expressed optimism that the projects when completed will create employment, solve health problems, reduce medical tourism, and increase transfer of skills as well as knowledge.
He further announced plans to convert the old secretariat into the School of Midwifery and Health Technology.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary of, the Ministry of Secondary and Tertiary Health, Dr. Mohammed Gana while lauding the state government for the initiative said that a teaching hospital in the state was long overdue.
This online platform gathered that the contract for the IBBUTH project is divided into three lots with Think Lab Development Company handling lots 1 and 3, while Fulus Group will handle lot 2.
