As Muslims around the world celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter, Dr. Bulus Yohanna, has called on Nigerians to remember the people of Mokwa in their prayers, following the recent devastating flood that affected the area.
In a goodwill message released to journalists on Friday, the CAN Chairman, who is also the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, congratulated Governor Umaru Bago, the Council of Traditional Rulers, and the entire Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Sallah celebration.
Bishop Yohanna expressed optimism that the challenges facing the state would soon be overcome, urging residents to remain hopeful and prayerful.
“I want to urge us all to have hope in God and not give up on issues bedevilling the state, especially with the recent devastating flood that wreaked havoc in Mokwa Local Government Area,” he said.
The CAN Chairman called for solidarity and compassion, urging citizens and government authorities to support the affected communities. “Let us remember our brothers and sisters who have lost their loved ones in the flood and pray for the souls of those who have died,” he added.
He also emphasized the importance of unity, peace, and mutual respect among people of different faiths and ethnic groups. “Let us all be agents of peaceful coexistence, united on all fronts, and reach out to those in dire need, especially those in Mokwa,” he said.
Bishop Yohanna reminded Nigerians that the true essence of Eid-el-Kabir lies in sacrifice, love, and peaceful coexistence, calling for greater synergy and cooperation across religious and ethnic divides.
