ASHENEWS reports that a non-governmental organization, the Adonai Health and Development Foundation (AHADEF) has provided free Hepatitis and HIV testing for widows in Keffi, Nasarawa state.
The exercise, according to the organisers is in commemoration of this year’s International Widow’s Day.
Speaking in an interview, the CEO of the foundation, Nwagwu Franklin said that the widows also received free Malaria testing, Health Education, HIV Testing, Hypertension screening ( Blood Pressure), drugs, Food items and counselling.
Speaking on the significance of the day, he noted that the day provides an avenue to remember and care for the women.
“The informed decision to carry out the project is to put smiles on the face of Widows by touching their lives positively in the area free Health care services and support.”
The organisation which decries the plights of widows in Nigeria said that they face significant challenges in different areas of life ranging from health challenges, feeding and poverty.
The organisation therefore called on stakeholders to support them in their various areas and locations.
