The Middle Belt Journalists Forum (MBJF) has expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for signing into law the bill establishing the North Central Development Commission (NCDC). This landmark decision aims to address the longstanding challenges of underdevelopment in the North Central geopolitical zone.
In a statement jointly signed by the National President and Secretary, Mark Mayah and Ladi Emmanuel, the MBJF also extended its appreciation to the executive governors of the North Central states and the National Assembly for their pivotal roles in bringing this initiative to fruition.
The forum emphasized that the collaborative efforts of these stakeholders were instrumental in ensuring the bill received presidential assent.
The NCDC is envisioned as a catalyst for addressing pressing issues in the region, including infrastructure deficits, security concerns, and economic empowerment. The MBJF highlighted that the establishment of the commission symbolizes hope for communities that have endured significant hardships and losses due to prolonged conflicts and neglect.
“The people of the North Central have long awaited this crucial moment. It is heartwarming to see that our yearnings and aspirations have been recognized by the Renewed Hope Agenda of your administration. To us, it is a soothing balm.”
The MBJF expressed optimism that the NCDC will effectively fulfill its mandate and called for positive collaboration from all stakeholders in the region to ensure the commission’s success. The forum also urged the people of the North Central to support the policies and programs of the Tinubu-led Federal Government, emphasizing that these initiatives are geared towards the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
As members of the fourth estate of the realm, the MBJF pledged its unwavering commitment to highlighting the activities of the administration concerning the commission once it becomes operational. The statement concluded with a note of appreciation: “Thank you, Mr. President, once again, for demonstrating unwavering allegiance to the welfare of our people.”
