Residents of Gauraka community in Tafa local government area of Niger state on Monday, blocked the Abuja-Kaduna highway to protest rising cases of kidnapping and banditry in the community.
Burning tyres and halting vehicular movement on the highway, the protesters were demanding that the state and federal government should boost security in the area and end the incessant attacks.
Recall that kidnappers had stormed the area on Saturday and Sunday and kidnapped 15 persons from the community and killing three others.
Residents of Gauraka community, which is about five kilometres away from Nigeria’s capital, Abuja have lamented that more than 30 people have been abducted from January to date.
