Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, on Wednesday signed the N897.8 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.
The bill, signed at the Katsina Government House, is tagged ‘Building Your Future 3’. The governor commended the state House of Assembly for passing the budget within 21 working days.
Radda noted that the budget—comprising 18 per cent recurrent expenditure and 81 per cent capital expenditure—reflected the legacy of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
He said the structure of the budget, with its low recurrent spending, aligns with the fiscal discipline championed by the late president, who also served as governor of the state.
The governor thanked members of the Assembly for their sacrifices, including forfeiting holidays and working long hours to pass the budget, as well as for the number of bills they have processed in recent years.
Radda emphasised the importance of a harmonious working relationship between the executive and legislature and called for continued cooperation.
Earlier, the Speaker of the Assembly, Nasir Yahya-Daura, said the budget was the outcome of a rigorous and inclusive process involving extensive review and questioning to ensure it addresses the needs of the people.
He noted that the amount submitted by the executive was retained in full, as the House agreed that the proposal was sound and aligned with the administration’s development plan.
He prayed for divine guidance for the successful implementation of the budget and for overcoming the state’s security challenges.
