ASHENEWS reports that the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Agency is planning to introduce the use of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) for payment of tax by residents.
The agency has also announced the use of the social media platform, WhatsApp to interact with residents on tax-related issues.
Speaking during a public-private dialogue on the revenue generation drive held on Wednesday, the Executive Chairman of the agency, Dr. Zaid Abubakar, said that the innovations was aimed at enhancing tax payment structures in the state.
Abubakar said that the introduction of the USSD feature would enhance payments and reduce the stress of paying taxes at banking halls or its equivalent.
By providing users with a reference number, the agency said that taxpayers would be able to pay their taxes through the platform.
Abubakar added that these innovations, proposed to be launched before the end of the first quarter of 2023 would also enhance transparency in the operations of the agency.
The event which brought together various categories of taxpayers in the private and public sectors was convened to strengthen collaboration between players in the tax cycle and professional bodies to allow for a fair and equitable tax system.
