ASHENEWS reports that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has seized 6,216 Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) and Nigeria National Identity Cards in possession of foreigners in the country.
The Comptroller General of the NIS, Isa Jere disclosed this during an operational briefing at the ongoing retreat for top management staff of the service, in Abuja.
The cards consisted of 3,823 National Identity cards and 2,393 voter cards.
Jere said that while all the migrants found in possession of the cards have been deported to their respective countries, the service has directed all heads of command and formations across Nigeria to strengthen surveillance of all locations.
Jere warned personnel of the service to be upright in the discharge of their duties, especially during the 2023 elections.
According to him, “we have resolved to hold Comptrollers responsible for any failure recorded by their men,”
