The Kano, Yobe and Jigawa state governmentts have relazed the curfews imposed in the various states following the nationwide hunger protest embarked by Nigerian as a result of economic hardship.
Kano government announced that the curfew in the state is now from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This update was made by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Baba Dantiye, on Sunday in a broadcast in Kano.
The curfew was adjusted to restore normalcy in the state after the imposition of a 24-hour curfew for safety during the ongoing nationwide protest.
Dantiye stated that Governor Abba Yusuf expressed condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones and property during the protest that turned violent. He also urged residents to return to their homes by 2 p.m. and assured them that the curfew would be reviewed as the security situation improves.
The governor appealed to residents to continue praying for peace, progress, and political stability in the state and the nation.

In Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni approved a review of the curfew imposed on Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru by five hours due to a considerable improvement in the security situation.
Dahiru Abdulsalam, the Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, announced that the curfew is now relaxed from noon to 5 p.m. starting Sunday. The governor commended security agencies for their efforts in restoring peace and urged them to remain vigilant.
He also encouraged residents to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities.
In Jigawa State, the government relaxed the curfew in eight local government areas and lifted it in 19 other areas after reviewing the security situation.
Commissioner for Information Sagir Musa stated that the curfew in Babura, Birnin Kudu, Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia, Kazaure, Kiyawa, and Roni is now from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. starting Sunday, August 4, 2024.
The State Joint Security Committee lifted the curfew in the 19 LGAs where there were no reports of violence during the protest. Governor Umar Namadi commended the people for their patience and understanding and praised security agencies for their professionalism and dedication during the protest.
The governor had imposed a 24-hour curfew on Thursday following vandalism and looting of public and private properties during the protest.
