The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has called clerics in the country to pray for peace, unity and socieconomic prosperity of Nigeria.
He gave the charge in Sokoto in a message to the funds appeal launch by the Sokoto state chapter of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamtus-Sunnah (JIBWIS), for its 1442 AH actitivities.
According to the speaker, who was represented by the member representing Wamakko and Kware federal constituency, Ahmed Kalambaina said, the unity of the country was not negotiable.
“Our diverse religious, ethnic and political differences are meant to further unite us and not to divide us,” he said, adding that prayers were part of the solutions to the problems facing the country.
Gbajabiamila further said that Nigerians had the civic responsibility to ensure that the country thrived as a single indivisible nation.
“United we stand, divided we fall. We have more to collectively achieve as united Nigerians and not divided along various ethnic, cultural and religious affinities,” he said.
Gbajabiamila donated N2.1 million to the group, explaining that N1 million is for the state chapter, N500,000 each to the Kware and Wamakko local governments chapters, and N100,000 to the Sokoto South local lovernment chapter.
The state chairman of the group, Sheikh Abubakar Mabera lauded Gbajabiamila for the gesture.
The chairman also acknowledged the moral and financial support of Kalambaina to the group and other religious causes.
