The Dangote Group has responded swiftly to public outrage following a tragic accident involving one of its trucks and Ruth Otabor—sister of BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna—near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State .
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Phyna criticized the company’s initial reaction, which reportedly involved instructing authorities to remove the vehicle’s plate number rather than directly supporting the victim. She wrote:
“From all that has happened, you decided to rather tell the Nigerian police to remove the plate number on the truck that crushed my sister … Enough is enough … una don too show people.”
In response, Dangote issued a statement on Thursday affirming that senior officials and its insurance team promptly visited the accident scene. They engaged with law enforcement and met with the victim and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State .
The statement pledged “comprehensive medical care and appropriate compensation in line with Dangote Group’s welfare policy,” underscoring its commitment to Otabor’s recovery. The group also conveyed its hopes for her “full and speedy recovery” .
