The Vice Chancellor of Sokoto State University, Prof. Sani Dangoggo has said that 36 of the 1,473 students that would graduate in a combined 1st, 2nd and 3rd convocation, will be conferred with first class degrees.
He stated this during a pre-convocation press conference at Board room of the university on Tuesday.
According to Dangoggo, 1,473 students were graduating from 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 sessions, adding that the convocation, scheduled for Saturday, would be the first since the university establishment in July 2009.
According to him, while the convocation lecture will be delivered by vice president Yemi Osinbajo will on Friday, Honorary Doctorate Degrees would be conferred on individuals.
“The convocation would be for graduates of the 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2019/2020 sessions. These will be from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Science.
“A total of 1,473 have graduated in the sessions with 36 earning First Class Degrees; 529 Second Class Upper; 894 Second Class Lower and 14 persons with Third Class Degrees,” the Vice Chancellor stated.
Dangoggo added that 23 courses were fully accredited having abided by the National University Commission’s, NUC, bench mark academic standards, guidelines and other standard procedural systems.
As the state government constructs a teaching hospital for the university, the vice chancellor said that management will soon introduce medical and allied health sciences courses.
