ASHENEWS reports that the Niger State Government has directed the immediate suspension of all recruitments into the state civil service at both state and local government levels.
This is contained in a notice issued on Friday by the state’s Head of Service, Abubakar Salihu.
The letter dated 9th June 2023 was addressed to all heads of ministries, parastatals, and departments, all permanent secretaries, the clerk of the state House of Assembly, as well as the secretary to the state government.
Also included were the Chief of staff and his deputy.
“I write under the directive of His Excellency, Mohammed Umaru Bago to convey the suspension of all forms of employment into the services of both the state and local governments.
“Furthermore, all inter-service transfers and change of cadre are equally affected by the directive till further notice,” the statement read.
Recall that the former governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello in his 2023 budget presentation announced plans to employ over 3,000 workers into the state civil service, the process of which commenced before he left office.
