A 7-year-old girl, Rukayya Muhammad, has lost her eyesight permanently after her elder brother, Auwalu Muhammad, allegedly removed both of her eyes in a suspected money ritual attempt in Wailo town, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to their father, Auwalu lured his younger sister into a nearby bush, where he brutally attacked her and plucked out her eyes. The horrifying act has left the entire community in shock.
Rukayya was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where she received emergency medical attention.
An eye specialist at the hospital, Dr. Shahir Umar Bello, confirmed that the girl has lost her sight permanently and will never regain her vision.
Authorities are yet to provide official details on the suspect’s arrest or motive, but residents have called for justice and stronger action against ritual-related crimes in the state.
