Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf has reappointed Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.
Governor Yusuf on Thursday, announced the appointment at the government house after signing the Kano Emirate law as amended.

ASHENEWS reported HERE on Tuesday that the majority leader of the Assembly, and member representing Dala Constituency, Lawan Hussaini, moved a motion of urgency and public importance seeking the approval of the lawmakers to recall the State Emirate Council law 2019 and Kano State Emirate amendment law 2023 for amendment.
This platform also earlier reported HERE that the assembly had passed the Kano emirates council law (repeal bill) 2024 after scaling 3rd reading, thereby abrogating the establishment of the five new Emirates in the state.
Sources said that Governor Abba Yusuf would sign the bill into law, on Thursday.
“Emir Sanusi is currently preparing for his return to the throne. Although he is not in town at the moment, we are expecting his return on Friday,” one of the sources said.
The governor signed the law at exactly 5:10 pm alongside his deputy, the Speaker of the State Assembly and other principal officers in the government.
He also reappointed Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano.
It could be recalled that former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje had dethroned Muhammadu Sanusi in 2020, following a personal rift.
