Governor Abba Yusuf has presented a letter of appointment to Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.
The event took place at the Arican House of the State Government House on Friday.
The presentation of the letter of appointment is coming after a Federal High Court sitting at the State capital issued an injunction stopping the action.
ASHENEWS recalls that on Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Kano State House of Assembly passed the Kano Emirates Council Law (Repeal Bill) 2024 after scaling 3rd reading, abrogating the establishment of five new Emirates in the state.
In the new law, all offices established under the repealed law were set aside all district heads elevated or appointed under the repealed law are to revert to their previous positions.
The State Emirates Council (Amendment number 2) Law, 2024, was sponsored by the Majority Leader and member representing the Dala Constituency, Lawan Hussaini Chediyar Yan Gurasa.

Still on Thursday, the governor announced the appointment of Muhammadu Sanusi at the government house after signing the Emirate law as amended.
ASHENEWS reported HERE on Tuesday that the majority leader of the Assembly, and member representing Dala Constituency, Lawan Hussaini, moved a motion of urgency and public importance seeking the approval of the lawmakers to recall the State Emirate Council law 2019 and Kano State Emirate amendment law 2023 for amendment.
“Emir Sanusi is currently preparing for his return to the throne. Although he is not in town at the moment, we are expecting his return on Friday,” a source said on Thursday.
The governor signed the law at exactly 5:10 pm alongside his deputy, the Speaker of the State Assembly and other principal officers in the government.
He also reappointed Muhammadu Sanusi as Emir of Kano.
