Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has appointed a Chinese national, Mr. Li Zhensheng, as Economic Adviser to the state government.
The appointment as Economic Adviser was announced on Thursday during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bauchi State Government and the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre in Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed said the move was part of his administration’s strategy to position Bauchi as a hub for international cooperation, attract foreign direct investment, and fast-track infrastructure and economic development.
The partnership is expected to drive initiatives in agriculture, education, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, and trade.
Under the MoU, Bauchi will establish a representative office in China to coordinate projects and ensure timely delivery. The governor added that the collaboration aligns with the diplomatic framework between President Xi Jinping of China and President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria, noting that it would create jobs, enhance skills, modernise key sectors, and boost the state’s global profile.
In his response, Zhensheng—who also serves as Chairman of the China Global Promotion Cooperation Research Centre—pledged to mobilise resources for Bauchi’s economic transformation, promising modern infrastructure, sustainable growth, and improved livelihoods for residents.
