The Sokoto State University chapter of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has commended Sokoto governor, Aminu Tambuwal for approving payment of earned allowances for members
Its chairman, Mr Abdullahi Maigandi who said this at a special congress meeting in Sokoto on Thursday, described the gesture as a motivation for greater service, stressing that it was the first in the history of the Sokoto State University.
ASHENEWS reports that the entitlements include hazard, excess workload and responsibility allowances.
While applauding the governor for always giving the required attention to issues of public importance, the chairman further urged him to maintain the tempo.
Maigandi called on members of the union to reciprocate the kind gesture by complementing the efforts of Tambuwal toward educational development in the state, adding that members should exercise patience as approval had been presented to the State Ministry of Finance for onward payment.
The SSAN chairman similarly appreciated the effort of the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Bashir Garba, who had been working hard for the success of the union and the state in general.
He explained that the union enjoyed cordial working relationship with the university management under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sani Dangoggo.
