The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has disclosed that Kebbi state governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu mediated for the release of Federal University of Dutse student, Aminu Adamu Mohammed.
ASHENEWS recalls that Mohammed was arrested by the police over his Twitter post, which was described as offending to Mrs Aisha Buhari, wife of Nigerian president.
Although he was released on Saturday following Mrs Buhari’s Friday withdrawal of the case, little was known about those who facilitated Mohammed’s release.
However, NANS national president, Umar Barambu in a statement obtained by ASHENEWS on Monday revealed that Bagudu led the mediation team that led to the release of Mohammed.
“We appreciate the mediation team led by His Excellency Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Governor of Kebbi state as well as everyone who played a role that got Comrade Mohammed his freedom.”
