ASHENEWS reports that five lecturers of the Sokoto State University have been promoted to the rank of professors, and three others to the position of Senior Lecturers.
This online platform further reports that a statement by the Information Officer, Zayyanu Shehu made available on Saturday, said the Engr. Bello A. Suleiman-led Governing Council of the University approved the promotion during its special meeting held on Saturday.
According to the statement, the promotion cut across different disciplines including Chemistry, Hausa, Computer Science, Arabic, Biological Sciences, and Education.
“Those promoted are Dr. Muhammad Sirajo and. Dr. Mansur Yahaya Ibrahim, both as professors in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry; and Dr. Mansur Aliyu has been promoted to professor in the Department of Computer Science. While Dr. Aliyah Adamu Ahmad was elevated to professor in the Department of Nigerian Languages; and Dr. Sirajo Muhammad Sokoto promoted to the rank of professor in the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies.
“Similarly, those promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturers are Dr. Adamu Abdullahi of the Department of Biological Sciences; while Dr. Nasiru Abubakar Katami and Dr. Bashar Sa’adu Isa, are both of the Department of Educational Foundation,” the statement reads.
While congratulating the promoted staff, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bashir Garba noted that “they were promoted, following the Council’s endorsement of their positive recommendations by their respective external assessors.”
Prof. Garba added that the University management, with the support of the Governing Council, would continue to motivate staff to be committed to duty.
He also cautioned that they will never promote insubordination or indolence.
The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged other staff to be more alive to their responsibilities because the University is determined to have thoroughly trained staff, who can advance teaching, research, and community service.
