In continuation of his nationwide consultation, Sokoto state governor and ace presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Aminu Tambuwal on Monday made his move to the party’s delegates and stakeholders in Zamfara state, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Tambuwal also commiserated with the people of Zamfara state over the recent bandits attack on some communities.
ASHENEWS recalls that stakeholders of the party in Sokoto state recently endorsed and mandated Tambuwal to declare for 2023 presidency.
The governor, in his response had told Sokoto stakeholders that he would declare by the end of February only after he made nationwide consultations.
In Gusau on Monday, Tambuwal called on politicians in the state to join hands, irrespective of their political differences, and fight insecurity in the state.
According to him, the critical situation of the state needs collective efforts of all and sundry in bringing lasting peace to the state, rather than politicians engaging in political war because of their differences.
The PDP presidential aspirant wondered how politicians could have time for politics when killings in the state have become the order of the day.
He urged the government to provide a medium through which resource persons from the state could come together and proffer a lasting solution to the security challenge, adding that the high level of insecurity needs to be faced with all sense of seriousness.
Tambuwal expressed his sympathy over the activities of bandits which have resulted in the killing of several innocent citizens.
The former governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa said it was time to kick start preparations for the 2023 general elections, recalling that in 2019, out of seven contestants of the PDP presidential aspirants from the Northwest, Tambuwal was the second in votes.
“And now, all the five presidential aspirants from the Northwest have decided to step down and back Tambuwal for the PDP presidential ticket because ‘he is young and energetic’.
“We are not hear to abuse or shift blame but to draw the attention of the state governor to focus more on new mechanism to tackle banditry,” he said.
Bafarawa urged the people of the state to embark on massive prayers for the leaders in order to have the courage and wisdom to face the challenges.
Responding, Zamfara Deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu urged delegates to remain steadfast for the success of the party in the state and country at large.
He appealed to Tambuwal to carry everyone along if eventually he wins the presidential election in 2023.
