ASHENEWS reports that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has allocated seats to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for the 2023 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
This online platform further reports that a statement by the Assistant Director of Information and Publications, Mousa Ubandawaki made available to newsmen on Saturday, said the allocation followed the EXCO’s ratification of the seats.
According to the table of the allocation, the states that got the highest are: Kaduna received 5,982, followed by Kano, 5,902; Sokoto, 5,505; Niger, 5,165; and Katsina, 4,913.
The lowest seats went to Imo which got 30, Bayelsa, 35 and Anambra, 39.
The seats were allocated through the Pilgrims welfare boards/agencies/commissions of the states, the FCT, and the Armed Forces.

Abia 53, Adamawa 2,669, Anambra 39, Bauchi 3,132, Bayelsa 35, Benue 236, Borno 2,735, Cross Rivers 66, Delta 74 and Nasarawa 1,567.
Others are Niger 5,165, Ogun 1,139, Ondo 436, Osun 1,054, Oyo 1,441, Yobe 1,968, Ebony 117, Edo 274, Ekiti 197, Enugu 40, and FCT 3,520.
The others are Gombe 2,301, Imo 30, Jigawa 1,525, Kaduna 5,982, Kano 5,902, Katsina 4,913, Armed Forces 548, and Kebbi 4,871.
The remaining are Kwara 3,219, Lagos 3,576, Plateau 1,984, Rivers 50, Sokoto 5,504, Taraba 1,590, and Zamfara 3,083.
According to the statement, “the seats for Kogi state will be released after the conclusion of the ongoing review of its activities while allocation of Akwa Ibom state was suspended due to non renewal of its operating licence.
“All the the states are expected to remit payment of 50% of the 2022 seat allocation to the Commission before the February 10 deadline.
“The inability of any state to comply with the deadline date will lead to a reduction in allocation to such a state,” the statement reads.
