The Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday passed the 2023 appropriation bill to the tune of ₦1,768,014,155,285.
The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu presented N1.69 trillion ‘budget of continuity’ to the House in October.
ASHENEWS reports that N748,096,508,571 of the budget is for recurrent expenditure and N1,019,917,646,713 as Capital expenditure.
According to the breakdown of the sectoral allocations, N3,228,396,960 was passed overhead cost for the Office of Civic Engagement for drug abuse advocacy; N802,987,206 as Capital Expenditure for the Ministry of Economic Planning & Budget and N1,200,000,000 as Overhead Cost (Social Intervention and Humanitarian Programme) for the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa thanked the lawmakers for their collective sacrifice and the swiftness in passing the budget.
According to him, the passion with which they processed the bill for passage showed their love for the progress of Lagos state.
