The current Deputy Speaker, and Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, and Alhasan Ado Doguwa, respectively have rejected the consensus arrangement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
The APC had endorsed Abass Tajudeen (Kaduna) for Speaker and Benjamin Kalu (Abia) for Deputy Speaker (South East) for the House of Representatives.
The party also nominated Senator Godswill Akpabio (South South – Akwa Ibom) and Senator Barau Jubrin (Northwest – Kano) as Senate President and Deputy Senate President, respectively.

However, at a press conference on Monday night, Wase, and Doguwa rejected the consensus arrangement announced by the party earlier on Monday.
According to them, they would not allow the 10th National Assembly to be “hijacked”.
They also vowed to proceed with their separate bids for speakership position.
