Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum on Monday, announced the allocation of land for the domestication of the federal government’s RUGA project in the state.
He made the announcement when he visited the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammad Nanono in Abuja on Tuesday.
The governor informed the Minister that he had already approved the allocation of land in Borno for the ruga project that is under the National Livestock Development Plan.
He explained that in addition to the ongoing ranching project (ruga) sited in the central part of Borno, the state was in another collaborative project that would be extended to southern and northern part of the state.
Officials from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture are expected to arrive Maiduguri to assess the land for the commencement of other projects.
The Minister commended Zulum for his foresight and efforts so far, while assuring early completion of the ongoing work.
The Minister also expressed gratitude to the governor for the visit.
Governor Zulum was accompanied by the Commissioner of Animal and Fisheries, Modu Walama; Special Adviser on Animal Resources, Tijjani Modu, and the Borno state Coordinator for RUGA, Musa Inuwa Kubo.
