The First Lady of Zamfara State, Her Excellency Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, through the Huriyya Dauda Lawal Initiative and in partnership with the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum, marked the 2025 International Day of Charity with a special outreach to vulnerable groups in Zamfara.
The event, themed “Speeding Global Generosity and Strengthening Community Support,” took place in Gusau and focused on supporting the elderly and less privileged.
According to a statement issued by Rabi’atu Yusuf, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady, the outreach distributed food items such as bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, sugar, vegetable oil, and cash donations to ease the burden of those most in need.
Speaking on behalf of the First Lady, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar (popularly known as Hadiza Mai H), Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilization, said charity is not just about giving, but about restoring dignity, strengthening community ties, and showing that no one is left behind.
“In a world full of challenges, our generosity must move faster to reach those who need it most,” she added.
The First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to supporting marginalized groups through consistent and impactful initiatives. She stressed that true charity must be rooted in empathy, compassion, and continuity. Beneficiaries of the outreach expressed gratitude, calling the intervention both timely and reassuring.
The partnership between the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum and the Huriyya Dauda Lawal Initiative shows the strength of collective action in uplifting vulnerable people. The First Lady also praised the Forum’s dedication to expanding humanitarian support across the northern region.
The International Day of Charity, observed every September 5, highlights the global importance of philanthropy in reducing poverty, building solidarity, and creating inclusive communities. The Zamfara outreach is a clear example of how compassion, matched with purposeful action, can change lives and strengthen society.
