Engr. Jacob Tyo, a machine maker from Gboko who builds different types of farming machines, has received royal blessings from the Tiv traditional ruler, Orcivirigh Prof. James Ayatse.
The Tor Tiv welcomed Engr. Tyo to his palace in Gboko and was very impressed by the young man’s skills and achievements in technology.
The Tor Tiv said he has always prayed for technological progress in Tiv land and thanked God that his prayers are being answered through the work of Engr. Tyo.
He encouraged Engr. Tyo to train young people so they can also learn to build machines and help improve farming in Tiv communities.
The Tor Tiv promised to give Engr. Tyo full support to help him replace manual farming with machines. He also said he would help connect him with government or sponsors who can support his work financially.
Earlier, while showing the Tor Tiv how his new agro-tiller machine works at his workshop in Gboko, Engr. Tyo said he started building machines to help farmers reduce stress in their work.
He said the goal of his machines is to promote mechanized farming so that farmers can produce more and benefit more from their efforts.
He said if he gets support, he hopes to train more than 40 young people and teach them his skills so they can start their own businesses.
Engr. Tyo also shared that he has ideas to build more machines, including ones that can harvest rice and others for processing farm produce, not just for Benue State but for farmers in other areas too.
He described his visit to the Tor Tiv as a special and unforgettable moment. He said the blessings and encouragement from the royal father will inspire him to continue bringing new ideas and useful technology to help farmers in Benue.
