To help improve food supply in Nigeria, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has started giving out 37,880 bags of fertiliser to farmers across Kano State.
The fertiliser distribution began on Sunday in the local government areas of Kano North Senatorial District, according to a statement from Senator Barau’s media adviser, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir.
Senator Barau gives fertiliser to Kano farmers every year to help them grow more food and support food security in the country.
Speaking at the event, Senator Barau—represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah—said the program was created to support the Federal Government’s work in improving food security.
“As we do every year, we are here again to give free fertiliser to farmers in Kano State. No farmer has to pay anything. This program supports the government’s goal of making sure there’s enough food for everyone,” he said.
He added, “We are already seeing good results, and we hope this effort will continue to help. Farmers are very important for the development of rural areas. Without them, we wouldn’t have food.”
He encouraged the farmers to use the fertiliser wisely and promised to keep working with other organisations to improve agriculture in Kano State and beyond.
Some of the farmers who received fertiliser thanked Senator Barau and praised him as a caring and supportive leader.
One of them, Mallam Ibrahim Musa Bagwai, said, “Senator Barau is a great leader. Every year, he gives us fertiliser to help our farming succeed. We are thankful to him. May God bless him in this life and the next.”
