A major dealer of Dangote Group, Salisu Sambajo has commended the company for its position on prices of essential commodities, saying “there was no time the organisation increased prices of its goods in any parts of the country, during Ramadan.
Speaking with journalists at his Singer market office in Kano on Monday, Sambajo explained that major dealers buy a bag of sugar at the rate of N18,500 and the company gives a discount of N250 per bag to dealers.
“I am among the major dealers of Dangote products in Nigeria; to the best of my knowledge there was no time Dangote company increased the price of his commodities during Ramadan fast.
“Sometimes, retailers who buy sugar from major dealers, increase the price upward when they arrive at their business places.
“What Dangote has done to us at this Singer market, its only God that can reward him abundantly. For many years, Dangote gives us commodities to sell without collateral and pay back after we sell,” Sambajo said.
Another major dealer, Sabo Dankoli explained that they have never experienced a hike in price from Dangote company during Ramadan.
“There are a lot of commodities on the ground this year; I am assuring the general public that this year, we are not expecting any hike in sugar and other commodities, just like last year. In spite of coronavirus last year, which caused lockdown, Dangote did not hike the prices of their products.”
Commending Dangote Group for ensuring that there is no price increase on its essential commodities during the fasting period, the chairman of Kano State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission, Barr. Muhuyi Rimingado lauded the company for flooding the market with goods.
“I was informed that the company has flooded the market with commodities that could last till after Ramadan fast and not only in Kano but across the northern states.
“That was why we appreciated the company with a letter of commendation last week. I hope the company will sustain this initiative even after the holy month of Ramadan,” Rimingado said.
Shedding light on the activities of Dangote Group on efforts to guarantee stable prices for commodities during Ramadan, a senior official of the company, Garba El-Suleiman said the company had flooded all markets across the country, with commodities whereby no dealer would be able to skyrocket the price of any product.
