An agri-mechanisation firm, Origin Tech Group, on Saturday reiterated its commitment to increasing agricultural yields by empowering farmers with modern agro-mechanization tools.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Mr. Samuel Joseph Samuel, Executive Chairman of Origin Tech, said the company aims to enhance food security and sustainability across Nigeria.
Origin Tech Group, a leading Agri-Tech and Food Systems company, provides agricultural infrastructure solutions, advanced mechanization technology, and farm equipment across industries in four continents. Its immediate focus in Nigeria is to revolutionize the agricultural sector by introducing robust mechanization to both urban and rural farming communities.
Samuel explained that while the company initially focused on automobiles, trucks, pickups, and assembly, it shifted attention to agriculture after recognizing the pressing need for mechanized farming support.
“We realized that local farmers require our support to adopt mechanized farming practices. We now provide tractors and other farm tools to farmers, reducing drudgery and boosting productivity,” he said.
He revealed that the company launched the ‘Tractorise Nigeria’ initiative in 2005 to provide tractor services to farming clusters nationwide. Origin Tech has collaborated with the Maize Farmers’ Association of Nigeria and the Tractors Owners Association of Nigeria to extend mechanization services and improve yields.
Samuel added, “If agriculture is properly managed in Nigeria, we can reduce food insecurity and ensure sustainable growth in the sector. The future of agriculture in Nigeria is bright, and with data-driven policy adoption, its growth potential is immense.
