ASHENEWS reports that the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Yakubu Muhammad Bello has disclosed plans for the state government to boost food production and regain its stand as the food giant of Nigeria
Bello made this known at a stakeholders meeting with Agricare STD Plus Limited on the role of microorganism in agriculture at the state Ministry’s conference Hall in Minna.
He added that the Ministry would introduce farming calendar for farmers to enable them succeed in food production.
The Permanent Secretary said the state government would harness the potentials for sustainable future in food production through engagement of stakeholders particularly the Commodity Association and farmers through their extension agents to enable them embibe the renewed agenda of the state government.
The Agricare Business Extension Officer from Abuja, Mr Akintobi Tola Tomi said their products are developed with the intent of safety as the abuse of inorganic fertilizer is causing a lot of damage to both human and crops
He explained that there is an innovative solution that is purely organic that does not have any element that can cause damage to the health.
Tomi stressed that the whole world is facing out the use of chemical fertilizer and others, urging farmers to embark on the products as they are affordable and will yield more.
In his remarks, Director, Vetenary Public Health, Doctor Adamu Ibrahim appreciated Agricare which was formerly known as animal feeds producer applauding the new initiative to go into crops and purely organic while he advised the company to keep it up.
