Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero on Monday, distributed tractors with complete implements for free services to farmers in Kebbi Central Senatorial District.
The development is coming as farmers start land clearing in preparation for this year’s wet season farming
The first batch of four tractors given to Gwandu, Bunza, Jega and Aliero local governments at Labana Farms Aliero, to be managed by a committee of trustees.
According to the Senator, “the tractors are to provide free service to all interested farmers in the local government regardless of their political affiliation.”
He further explained that the objective of the farmers support scheme is to improve the economic well-being of the people through utilisation of the agricultural potential of their various areas.
Aliero announced that arrangement are being made to distribute the second batch of the tractors for the remaining local governments.
A Commissioner in the Federal Character Commission, Atiku Bunu gave details of the moderlities for the usage of the tractors.
“Farmers interested for the service of the tractors are to provide diesel and feeding allowance for the tractors operators,” he said.
Recall that two months ago, Aliero distributed 10 farming bulls and plough to 10 farmers in each of the eight local government area in Kebbi Central Senatorial District.
