The Zamfara State Government has distributed 65 motorcycles to sanitation supervisors in Gusau to ease routine sanitation duties in the state.
Speaking during the flag-off of the distribution on Sunday, Deputy Governor Mani Mummuni said the gesture was aimed at motivating officers and enhancing their efficiency in maintaining cleanliness in the Gusau metropolis.
He cautioned beneficiaries to be diligent and responsible in the use of the motorcycles, warning that any form of misuse or negligence could attract sanctions.
Meanwhile, Mummuni noted that the officers were permitted to use the motorcycles for commercial purposes after official sanitation hours to support their livelihoods.
According to him, part of the state government’s focus is on youth empowerment and job creation. He recalled that the government had recently distributed 10 vehicles to youth leaders across the state and added that more interventions would be extended to additional youths in the future.
In a related development, the deputy governor also flagged off the distribution of vocational tools, facilitated by Senator Ikra Bilbis, who represents Zamfara Central Senatorial District, for the benefit of youths in his constituency.
The items, which include motorcycles, sewing machines and refrigerators, were distributed to both male and female youths across Gusau, Tsafe, Maru and Bungudu Local Government Areas in a bid to promote self-reliance.
Mummuni commended Senator Bilbis for the initiative and urged other elected representatives to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and their respective constituents.
