Dangote Cement Plc has donated pickup vans to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) to boost traffic control and enhance public safety.
The handover took place at the Dangote Group’s office in Ikeja, Lagos, where the company’s Head of Social Performance, Mr. Wakeel Olayiwola, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to community development.
“Efficient traffic management is critical to saving lives, easing the movement of goods and people, and reducing hours wasted in congestion. This donation shows our belief in shared responsibility between the public and private sectors,” Olayiwola stated.
Receiving the vehicles, the Permanent Secretary of Ogun State Ministry of Transport, Mrs. Aderonke Tokunbo-Peters, described the gesture as a “powerful statement of corporate responsibility and partnership for safer roads.”
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, also applauded the donation, stressing that traffic management should not be seen as a government-only task but “a shared civic duty that affects every commuter, every business, and every family.”
Both agencies pledged to deploy the vehicles effectively to improve patrol coverage, reduce accidents, and strengthen enforcement of traffic regulations.
Dangote Cement continues to support infrastructure and community development initiatives nationwide as part of its corporate social responsibility drive.
