The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has taken stronger action against places that break environmental rules. The agency closed down several businesses in Lagos Mainland for making too much noise and other violations.
The areas affected include Aguda, Surulere, LASU-Iba Road, Ilogbo Road, Jakande, Ajangbadi, Ojo, Okokomaiko, and Agric Bus Stop. Some of the places shut down are Admax Lounge, Casco Gas Plant, Food Affairs, Hotel De Bravo, JC Wellington Hotel & Suites, Niger Villa, Nayon Superstores, Another Level Hotel, The Levite Assembly, Lutana Lounge & Suites, and Kelwinson Hotel.
LASEPA shared news of the operation on its official Twitter (X) page. The agency said the crackdown was due to ongoing noise and environmental pollution.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, said the agency will not tolerate environmental offenses, especially noise pollution, which he noted can harm people’s health.
“Our actions today send a strong message. We are serious about protecting the environment and improving public health in Lagos,” Dr. Ajayi said.He also encouraged all residents and businesses to follow environmental rules.
He said LASEPA is dedicated to making Lagos a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable city.
