The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) National Congress, Dr. Tafarki Agbadu, has described the Mambilla Plateau as a major hub for livestock production in Nigeria.
Agbadu made this known on Friday while briefing journalists in Jalingo on activities lined up for the forthcoming NVMA National Congress, scheduled to hold from October 28 to 31 in Jalingo, Taraba State.
He said that over 700 participants were expected at the event, noting that the congress would attract experts from various fields, including veterinary surgeons, researchers, policymakers, livestock producers, and pharmaceutical representatives.
According to him, the choice of Taraba by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the association reflects the state’s immense potential and its critical role in Nigeria’s agricultural and public health sectors.
“The event will provide local veterinary professionals, students, and agricultural stakeholders with unparalleled access to national and international expertise, research findings, and innovations,” he said.
Agbadu commended Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State for approving the hosting rights for the association and for providing the necessary resources and logistics to ensure the success of the conference.
He also assured delegates of adequate security arrangements and appealed to residents to extend warm hospitality to visitors during the congress.
