Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has mobilized 50 medical personnel to support victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The flood, which occurred on September 10, was triggered by the collapse of spillways at the Alau Dam, submerging residential areas, farmlands, and roads, and displacing thousands of households in the city.
During a visit to Governor Babagana Zulum in Maiduguri on Friday, Tinubu announced that the medical team, drawn from the North-East states, had been deployed to relieve the overstretched health workers in the region.
“They are already on the ground and will remain for the next few days to help stabilize the situation,” Tinubu said.
In collaboration with the Noella Foundation, Tinubu’s team has donated medical supplies, food, and non-food items to assist 50,000 children and adults affected by the disaster.
“This is just the beginning, Your Excellency. I assure you that more help is on the way. As we speak, we are mobilizing additional resources to support the recovery until every displaced person has the opportunity to rebuild their life,” he added.
The initiative, he explained, was in response to President Tinubu’s call for support for the flood victims. He praised the resilience of the people of Borno and commended Governor Zulum’s leadership in managing the crisis.
In response, Governor Zulum expressed his gratitude for the support from Seyi Tinubu and his associates, assuring them that the resources would be used effectively to benefit those in need. He also extended his appreciation to President Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu for their concern and support.
“We remain grateful to the President and First Lady for their show of concern and support. Tell the President that the people of Borno highly appreciate him and are 100 percent with him,” Zulum said.
Seyi Tinubu, accompanied by his brother Yinka, also paid a visit to the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kanemi.
