No fewer than 1,176 artisans in Etsako Federal Constituency have benefited from the empowerment programme by Anamero Dekeri (APC-Edo), the constituency’s representative in the House of Representatives.
Speaking at the presentation in Okpella on Wednesday, Dekeri said the initiative aimed to enhance skills and boost livelihoods.
The beneficiaries come from the constituency’s three local government areas: Etsako East, Etsako West, and Etsako Central. Some were trained in hairdressing, farming, mechanics, and welding.
Dekeri thanked political leaders in the state for creating an enabling environment to impact lives. He emphasized that democracy loses credibility if it fails to improve human life, adding that he would continue to ensure his constituents are economically empowered.
“I will continue to create opportunities that make life worth living for our people,” he said.
On his performance in the National Assembly, Dekeri stated, “I have no other business at the National Assembly than to serve your interests. Whatever it takes to ensure that Etsako Federal Constituency benefits, I will do it. I am committed to serving my constituency to the best of my abilities.”
He also revealed that the current empowerment programme would not be the last, promising a larger initiative later this year. Dekeri expressed gratitude to political leaders, ward chairmen, and local executives for their support, assuring, “I have never failed in keeping my promises, and I will not fail you.”
Some beneficiaries, visibly excited, declared full endorsement for Dekeri’s continued leadership, noting his commitment to constituency development through practical interventions.
“He is not a billboard politician but a man focused on impactful politics. Our children can now write WAEC alongside their peers because he bears the cost of their exams every year,” they said.
Empowered artisans received tools including sewing machines, deep freezers, hair dryers, welding machines, farm chemicals, sprayers, and other farming equipment. Members of the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) received complete mechanical and electrical toolboxes, welders received welding equipment, and Alumaco workers were given glass-cutting tools.
