The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast predominantly sunny and hazy weather conditions across the country from Sunday to Tuesday.
In its three-day weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet predicted sunny skies over the northern region throughout the period, with hazy atmospheric conditions expected across the North-Central states.
According to the agency, parts of the South-South will experience weather disturbances, with localised morning thunderstorms and light rainfall forecast for areas of Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta states on Sunday. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over Rivers, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states.
For Monday, NiMet anticipates continued sunshine in the North and hazy conditions in the North-Central region. Southern states are expected to experience cloudy conditions in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms later in the day.
On Tuesday, sunny and hazy conditions are forecast to persist in the northern and North-Central regions, while the southern parts of the country are expected to be cloudy in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rainfall later in the day.
NiMet advised residents, particularly those with respiratory ailments, to take precautionary measures as dust particles remain suspended in the atmosphere. Motorists were also urged to exercise caution during rainfall due to reduced visibility and slippery roads.
The agency further advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning and encouraged the public to stay informed through its official weather updates.
