ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government is set to flag off a $20 million tree planting project in the state.
The Niger state governor, Mohammed Bago stated this when he inspected the ongoing road projects in Mokwa, Enagi and Kutigi local government areas of Niger state.
The governor who cautioned against tree felling said that assessment is being carried out for lasting solutions to environmental hazards.
He also advised residents of the area on the use of life jackets before boarding boats, pointing out that there would be repercussions for those who go against the law.
On the issue of electricity challenges faced by the residents, the farmer Governor constituted a Steering Committee, headed by the Member, Mokwa State Constituency while the Council Chairman will serve as the Secretary with the mandate of resolving the challenges in three weeks.
The governor earlier performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 5KM township roads each in Mokwa, Edati and Lavun Local Government Areas of the state.
This online platform earlier reported that the Niger State Government announced that it has secured $20 million dollars from ACReSAL for tree planting.
The governor disclosed this when the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Niger State headed by the Head of Service, Salisu Abubakar visited the governor at the Government House, Minna on his birthday.
This project, the governor said is part of his Agriculture and Green Economy policies.
